Trent Richardson doesn't travel to New England due to personal reasons
Trent Richardson was a healthy scratch in last week's divisional round win against the Denver Broncos.
This week, the Indianapolis Colts' third-year running back will watch the game from home.
Richardson didn't travel with the Colts to New England for Sunday's AFC championship game because of personal reasons, the team announced on Saturday.
Running backs Daniel "Boom" Herron and undrafted free agent Zurlon Tipton will receive the majority of the work.
This moment may mark the lowest point in Richardson's career after the team traded a first-round pick to acquire him less than two years ago. While Richardson averaged just 3.3 yards a carry, the Colts weren't shy to give him a hearty workload this season.
Richardson's workload did however tail off during the past six weeks of the season, earning 10 or more carries just once.
Also, reserve offensive tackle Xavier Nixon missed the team flight Saturday and has been listed as out for the game.
