The Dolphins have a starting running back, and it's not yet Arian Foster
The Miami Dolphins have an interesting situation at running back going into the 2016 season. They lack a surefire starter after Lamar Miller bolted for the Houston Texans, leaving Jay Ajayi as the lone returning running back worthy of the starting job.
However, the team recently signed veteran Arian Foster, who has reportedly looked great in camp. It’s even been said that the four-time Pro Bowl selection is “head and shoulders” above the rest of the backs in practice. Despite working with the first team while Ajayi nurses a minor knee injury, Foster still isn’t the starter.
Miami released its first depth chart of camp, and it’s Ajayi listed atop the list. Foster is No. 2, followed by Damien Williams. Rookie Kenyan Drake is listed among “other” with Daniel Thomas and Isaiah Pead.
What’s also noteworthy on the depth chart is where Laremy Tunsil is slotted. He’s the second-string left guard – not left tackle – behind Dallas Thomas. The first-round pick primarily played left tackle at Ole Miss, but it seems as though he’ll kick inside so long as tackle Branden Albert is healthy.
Of course, this is only the first of many iterations of the depth chart, but it’s not the best sign that Tunsil isn’t viewed as a starter right now.
