Tebow to publish memoir

Published Nov. 8, 2010 12:00 a.m. ET

Tebow, the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner and two-time national champion at the University of Florida, will share his on-field success along with his unique upbringing and work off the field.

“I am extremely excited about the opportunity to share my story of faith, family and football,” Tebow said in a release from HarperCollins.

Tebow, 23, was born in the Philippines to Christian missionaries, and has continuously put his faith in the forefront of his life in the public eye. The former Gators quarterback often wrote biblical verses on his eye paint before games.

The Denver Broncos drafted Tebow in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He is currently the team's backup behind sixth-year veteran Kyle Orton.

Tebow made a name for himself at Florida for his ability to score both through the air and on the ground, displaying unusual agility for a quarterback with his 6-foot-3, 245-pound frame. The Broncos have twice brought the young pro onto the field in short-yardage situations to help secure a touchdown.

The memoir, slated for release in April 2011, will be co-written with Nathan Whitaker, who assisted former Super Bowl winning head coach Tony Dungy on his three New York Times bestsellers.
