Super Bowl favorites? Colts ranked outside NFL top-ten
If the Indianapolis Colts are indeed an early Super Bowl favorite, someone forgot to tell Sport Illustrated's Peter King.
The veteran sports writer released his offseason power rankings on Monday, and it seems he's not quite as bullish on the Colts as many other experts. Kings lists Indianapolis as the 11th best team in the NFL.
"Best team in the AFC South, which isn’t saying much," King wrote. "Still have no clue how the Colts will stop the best offenses in football. I bet Chuck Pagano doesn’t know either."
King ranks AFC rivals Baltimore (1st), Kansas City (4th), New England (5th), Pittsburgh (8th) and Denver (9th) all ahead of the Colts.
Some members of the Indianapolis media were confused by King's take, to say the least.
Explain this, please: @SI_PeterKing has Vikings, Ravens and Chiefs ahead of Colts in his latest power rankings. http://t.co/8pXKlVaoxK

He's great at what he does, but I'm not following Peter's logic here. https://t.co/StpDyBeUvK

For what it's worth, King is equally hard on the rest of the AFC South. The Houston Texans, despite a defense featuring J.J. Watt and Vince Wilfork are ranked 28th, the Jacksonville Jaguars are 30th and the Tennessee Titans are ranked last.
