Stephen Jones: Cowboys still don't regret letting Murray go

After releasing running back Joseph Randle earlier this week, the Dallas Cowboys no longer have any running backs on the 2015 active roster who were with the team in 2014. Despite the team's dwindling depth at the position, Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones told reporters on Tuesday that he doesn't regret letting DeMarco Murray sign with the Philadelphia Eagles this past offseason.

Murray's slow start to the 2015 season has been well documented. The Eagles starting back has just one 100-yard rushing game and a 3.5 yards per carry average over his first seven games. However, the "revenge game" narrative is certainly set for this Sunday night when Murray returns to Dallas for the first time.

In Murray's last meeting against the Cowboys, in Philadelphia, he ran for just two yards on 13 carries. He also added 53 yards receiving on five catches. When Murray is in the game, the Eagles need to call more power-blocking run plays -- the sweeps and stretch plays that are a staple of Chip Kelly's offense simply don't fit Murray's skill set.
