Stephen Colbert mocks Thursday Night Football (Video)

Stephen Colbert destroys the Thursday Night Football game between the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets on his CBS show ‘The Late Show’ Wednesday night.
Cross promotion is a shameless part of network television. Host CBS’ ‘The Late Show’ Steven Colbert had to promote Thursday Night Football on his Wednesday telecast and absolutely destroys the Week 2 game between the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets.
Thursday night games tend to be of the ugly variety due to the short week. It is only exacerbated with these games usually being between two division rivals that hate each other. When Colbert had to promote this joint telecast between CBS and the NFL Network, he did a phenomenal job of trolling the media spectacle.
Colbert first instructs his viewers “to set your alarm for about 1:00 AM ET because that is when my show will be starting after the game.” He would add that “Thursday is the ideal night to watch football because when you wake up after the game, it’s Friday. With Sunday Night Football, you wake up on Monday. Boo!”
Colbert goes on to highlight “The Battle of the Transplanted Ryans”, pointing out at the Bills head coach Rex Ryan use to run the show in New York, while Jets signal caller Ryan Fitzpatrick use to quarterback the Bills.
Thursday Night Football will also be the home to the NFL’s Color Rush campaign. Colbert says this is “great news if you don’t have a favorite football team, but you do have a favorite flavor of popsicle. Go Fightin’ Razzle-berries!”
Since Color Rush in this game frustrates viewers with red-green color blindness, the Jets will be wearing white to “save themselves for the playoffs” while the Bills will be in red. Thursday Night Football in Orchard Park, New York is going to be spectacular this week because Colbert says it will be.
