Should Ravens kick tires on Bears TE Martellus Bennett?
The Ravens are in the market for a tight end and the Bears are reportedly shopping theirs. Could Martellus Bennett be a match for Baltimore?
Bennett is coming off a career year after leading all tight ends with 90 catches and making his first Pro Bowl in 2014. The lofty numbers have the seven-year veteran seeking a new deal, a development that has the Bears evaluating the trade market for his services, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The 28-year-old Bennett will be entering the third year of a four-year deal he signed in March 2013 worth $20.4 million. He's due to make $4.9 million in 2015 with a $100,000 workout bonus.
With Dennis Pitta's injury status up in the air and Owen Daniels now in Denver, the Ravens could set their sights on Bennett rather than spending a high draft pick on a tight end. Bear in mind that Bennett's last two seasons, the best of his career, have come under Marc Trestman, Baltimore's new offensive coordinator.
