Seahawks' Sherman not a fan of playing under Monday night lights

Published Oct. 1, 2015 7:43 p.m. ET

For a player who has enjoyed considerable success on football's grandest stages, Richard Sherman surprisingly cares little about playing under the bright lights this week.

The Seattle Seahawks and visiting Detroit Lions will have the national spotlight all to themselves on Monday night, but Sherman said it's just another game to him. An annoying one at that.

"It's never really been a big deal for me," Sherman told the media on Thursday. "I hate playing at night. I feel like it's a day wasted."

The matchup will give Sherman a chance to renew acquaintances with Lions wideout Golden Tate, who is in his second year with Detroit after spending his first four seasons with Seattle. Sherman said he doesn't think either player benefits more from knowing one another's tendencies.

"It's been years since we've practiced against each other," Sherman said. "But I don't it gives anybody the advantage. ... It makes it more fun. It makes it more like a chess match."
