Seahawks' Lockette reportedly feeds homeless moments after leaving hospital

He may have suffered a potentially devastating neck injury in a Week 8 matchup at the Dallas Cowboys on Nov. 1, but Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette was not wallowing in self-pity.

Three days after undergoing surgery to repair ligament and disk damage in his neck, Lockette went out of his way to offer assistance to those suffering through their own misfortune, per a report from TMZ.

According to TMZ Sports, Lockette was released from a Dallas hospital on Nov. 5 and was en route to the airport with his parents when he drove through a neighborhood that serves as a haven for a large contingent of homeless people.

That prompted Lockette to direct his driver to stop at a nearby McDonald's, buy 100 cheeseburgers and return to the sidewalk to hand them out to those in need.

"He had a neck brace on while he was passing out the burgers," Lockette's father, Earl Lockette, told TMZ. "So some people were like, 'What happened to you?' But Ricardo didn't try and bring attention to who he was.

"Some people knew who he was," the elder Lockette continued. "But this was more about Ricardo seeing people who were in worse shape than him, and wanting to help them however he could."

Ricardo Lockette was knocked unconscious on a punt return when he was hit by Cowboys linebacker Jeff Heath. The 29-year-old receiver is expected to be placed on season-ending injured reserve this week.
