Seahawks DE Michael Bennett Feels QB Colin Kaepernick Gives 49ers a 'Better Chance to Win'

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett weighed in on his team’s 37-18 victory over the San Francisco 49ers and feels quarterback Colin Kaepernick gives the Niners the best chance to win.

Colin Kaepernick should be starting at quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, at least according to Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett.

“There is no challenge,” Bennett said, via Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area, when asked about current Niners starting QB Blaine Gabbert. “He threw for 100 yards. The challenge is him reading the defense and staying in the pocket. What’s the point in running when you have to throw the ball? I think Kaepernick gives the team a better chance to win, but that’s just my opinion.”

Bennett was referring to the lackluster effort from Gabbert in Week 3. San Francisco lost yet again in Seattle, dropping this road bout 37-18 in a game that was all but decided by halftime.

The Niners haven’t won at CenturyLink Field since 2011.

Gabbert was 14-of-25 for 119 yards with zero touchdowns and an interception. Through three games, Gabbert has posted a 68.6 passer rating. And Pro Football Focus ranks him No. 34 out of 36 qualifying quarterbacks on the season.

Calls for Kaepernick to start may get louder soon. But the embattled signal-caller hasn’t exactly posted much success in Seattle either.

Kaepernick has a career 55.9 passer rating against the Seahawks. Arguably his best game versus Seattle came during the 2014 NFC Championship, albeit his final pass didn’t exactly go according to plan.

    Yeah, the Michael Crabtree fade.

Nonetheless, opposing players aren’t hesitant to point out the Niners’ shortcomings under center. And it’s a problem not likely to go away anytime soon.
