The latest  Saints at Giants NFL odds, trends, and other information ahead of their 2016 NFL Week 2 game.

It’s Week 2 of the 2016 NFL season and already experts, fans and social media gurus are calling it a “must win” weekend for several teams, including the Saints and Giants. Although it is hard to think a team is in a “must win” situation in the second game of the season, it may not be too far from the truth.

The Giants are 1-0 after beating the Cowboys in Big D, while the Saints are still smarting following a tough 35-34 loss at home to the Oakland Raiders. Now these two will meet up at Met Life Stadium this Sunday with a lot on the line – and here’s why.

New York has a history under Eli Manning. Start the season great, and great things happen. Sure it is only Week 2, however, the Giants started 0-2 in 2015, and really seemed to recover. Now that being said, any team that starts 0-2 is certainly still alive in any type of playoff chase, but teams that start 2-0 make the postseason nearly 59 percent of the time.

Add to that teams that start 4-0 make the playoffs almost 69 percent of the time and you can see where I am going with this. The Giants want that 2-0 start, the Saints do not want to start 0-2. Yes, it is a big game!

The current Las Vegas odds have New York listed as a five-point favorite, with the Over/Under number set at 53.

According to Oddsshark, the Saints have a great chance of winning Sunday. In the last five meetings between these two squads, the Saints are 4-1. Now before you think New Orleans is the best team to wager on this week, most of those games were played in the Big Easy. It seems to be a different story when the Saints hit the road.

In the last five matchups played in New York, the Giants are 4-1 vs. the Saints. Obviously the home team seems to dominate this series. New Orleans also seems to fall a bit flat on offense on the road compared to home. The over/under total points scored has gone UNDER in four of New Orleans’ last five games on the road.

On the other hand, the total has gone OVER in six of the NY Giants’ last seven games at home. If you like to wager on numbers, it seems the OVER may be the play. If the game finished UNDER the number, that would favor the Giants and most likely mean a New York win.

This will be the only time these two meet up this season, unless they happen to cross paths in the postseason.

Sunday’s Saints vs. Giants game is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. ET and will be aired on FOX affiliates across the US.
