The latest Saints at Chargers odds, trends, and other information ahead of their 2016 NFL Week 4 regular season matchup.

The San Diego Chargers and New Orleans Saints have not faced each other since 2012, and they have not done battle in San Diego since 2004. Back then, Drew Brees was the quarterback of the Chargers, but things have changed since then. Brees is now the quarterback of the Saints and will be looking to beat his former team in his return to San Diego.

According to OddsShark, the Chargers will open as a 3.5-point favorite at home. In their only home game of 2016, San Diego absolutely destroyed the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars. The Saints are going to pose some tough challenges on Sunday, but Vegas thinks San Diego will win the game.

The over/under for Sunday is 53.5, which means everyone thinks there will be plenty of offense to go around. Both offenses are stacked with talent, and the game will feature two prolific passers. Neither defense has shown the ability to make stops in the early going, so this one may actually go over.

San Diego is going to be hampered on offense, as tight end Antonio Gates is listed as doubtful for the game. They are already without star wide receiver Keenan Allen and running back Danny Woodhead, but Rivers should find a way to move the ball. The Saints were without Willie Snead in their Monday night loss to the Atlanta Falcons, but he should be back on Sunday.

As far as trends go, the Chargers have gone under in four of their last five home games. However, they have gone over in seven of their last eight games against the Saints. The Bolts have not fared very well against the spread in their last 14 games, going 3-11. New Orleans is 4-2 against the spread in their last six road games and should be able to cover on Sunday.

The Chargers have way too many injuries to keep up with the Saints, as they are hobbled on both sides of the ball. Manti Te’o is out for the season with an Achilles injury, and first round pick Joey Bosa is still not ready to go. New Orleans should be at full strength on Sunday and should win despite having a short week of practice.

This will be the only meeting between these two teams from opposite conferences this season. Game time is set for 4:25 p.m. Eastern Time on Sunday from Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California.
