Safety Morgan Burnett returns to practice for Packers

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) Starting safety Morgan Burnett has returned to practice for the Green Bay Packers after missing the season opener against Chicago with a calf injury.

The six-year veteran wore a sleeve around his lower left leg during practice Wednesday, when he was a limited participant.

Having Burnett back for Sunday night's game against the Seattle Seahawks and running back Marshawn Lynch would be a boost for a defense that allowed the Bears' Matt Forte to rush for 141 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries.

The run defense took a hit when starting linebacker Sam Barrington was placed on season-ending injured reserve Tuesday because of a foot injury.

Defensive end Datone Jones also returned to practice after serving a one-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.

Receiver Randall Cobb (shoulder) and linebacker Jayrone Elliott (quad) were also listed as limited by the Packers.
