Robert Turbin finds right fit in Indianapolis, behind Gore

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 2:35 p.m. ET

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Robert Turbin joined the Colts because he thought they were a good fit. Having his favorite player, Frank Gore, as a teammate also helped.

Less than 24 hours after the free agent running back signed a one-year deal with Indianapolis, Turbin told local reporters he couldn't wait to meet Gore or jump-start his own career.

Turbin began last season in Cleveland but missed the first five games with a sprained ankle. He played in three games before being waived by the Browns.

After signing with Dallas, Turbin played in the Cowboys' final seven games and finished the season with combined totals of 50 carries, 199 yards and the first TD run of his career.

He previously spent three seasons backing up Marshawn Lynch in Seattle.
