Rex takes another jab at Amaro
Earlier this offseason New York Jets tight end Jace Amaro talked about the differences between new head coach Todd Bowles and now Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan.
“Guys just weren’t accountable last year as much as they could be. I think that’s the biggest thing, he’s making sure everyone’s gonna be 100 percent in or he’s not going to be on the team," Amaro said in April via the New York Post.
Rex caught wind of the comments and responded in an interview for The MMQB with Sports Illustrated's Jenny Ventras. “He’s full of s–, and I’ll remind him of that when we play him. Look, we weren’t perfect, and I never said we were going to be perfect. But that’s a f–ing b.s. comment. But, hey, he’s happy that he’s got a different coach in place. We’ll see how happy he is when I play against him.”
The two continued to trade jabs through the month of April before it seemed as if both sides had cooled down. Rex stirred the pot again on Wednesday night while appearing at WFAN’s celebrity softball benefit for the NYPD at Yankee Stadium.
“I couldn’t care less about him. That doesn’t mean anything to me. … [The hard feelings with Amaro] will be decided on the field, and we’ll see who’s got the better team.”
Clearly Amaro's comments from early April are still bothering him. The stakes for both Jets-Bills games were already high enough and with Rex's latest comments, the stakes have been raised that much higher heading into both matchups.
