Since Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola went down with injuries, the New England Patriots have had trouble finding a viable return man to replace them. Chris Harper took over against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, but after muffing a punt, he was released by the team one day later.

On Tuesday, the Patriots reportedly brought in another possible replacement. According to Mike Reiss of ESPN, the Patriots intend to sign wide receiver and return specialist Damaris Johnson after he worked out with the team on Monday.

Johnson, who's 5-foot-8, has played for both the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles in his career, starting nine games in three seasons at wide receiver. On special teams, he has averaged 9.5 yards per punt return and 25.1 yards per kick return.

If Amendola remains sidelined with a knee injury against the Eagles this week, Johnson will likely be the Patriots' return specialist.
