Report: Dolphins center Pouncey could miss seven games

Published Jul. 24, 2014 6:30 a.m. ET

The Dolphins offense will be missing a key piece to start the season.

Starting center Mike Pouncey could miss first seven games of the upcoming season, the Miami Herald reports. Pouncey underwent hip surgery June 23 to repair a torn labrum, but the rehab process likely will cost him the first half of the season.

"Eight weeks is probably what we're looking at," a source told the Herald.

The Dolphins have a bye week Oct. 5, which explains the seven-game timetable. Pouncey will begin camp on the physically unable to perform list, according to the report.

Pouncey was named in the Jonathan Martin hazing investigation and could still be punished by the league for his role.
