Redskins HC Gruden: We anticipate Alfred Morris being here for a while

If you own Washington Redskins rookie running back Matt Jones in a dynasty or keeper fantasy football league, you might want to take notice. It doesn't look like incumbent starter Alfred Morris is going to be leaving the time any time soon, or least not until head coach Jay Gruden's tenure with the team is complete.

Gruden heaped praise on Morris after Monday's training camp practice and he believes that the veteran back will be a big part of the Redskins' offense in 2015 and for years to come.

“We anticipate Alfred being here for a while – knock on wood, hopefully,” Gruden said, per the Washington Post. “Alfred, sometimes he’s not big-name guy – I guess because you’ve got DeSean and Robert obviously gets a lot of publicity – Alfred just goes about his business every day. He’s been excellent with blitz pickups. He’s catching the ball out of the backfield so much better. He doesn’t say a peep. He just comes to work every day and you love to have guys like that. At the running back position, that’s pretty rare for a running back not to complain about getting the ball – sometimes he probably should. Overall, man, I just love what Alfred is all about both on and off the field. I’m very happy to have him.”

Morris is coming off a season where he played on just 616 of 1,092 offensive snaps. He has devoted his offseason to improving as a receiver, and the early results are positive. Look for him to play more total offensive snaps in 2015.
