Redskins CB DeAngelo Hall hoping toe injury doesn't keep him out of upcoming game

Washington Redskins cornerback Deangelo Hall hasn't been able to stay off the injury report since returning to practice when the team opened up training camp. Late into Sunday's team practice, Hall injured one of his toes on his left foot during a team drills. On Monday, Hall confirmed that the injury is not serious and he hopes to play in this Thursday's preseason game.

On Monday, he is working on reducing the swelling and regaining mobility in his toe through treatment, the Washington Times reports. Hall took X-rays on the injury and they came back negative.

Hall is hoping to be back with his teammates sooner rather than later. He acknowledged the importance of getting every practice repetition in as he attempts to learn a new defensive scheme with several new teammates.

“Like I was saying to somebody, this is probably the first training camp I’ve actually came in and wanted to work,” said Hall, per Zac Boyer of the Washington Times. “A lot of times, I’m really just going through the motions and I don’t want to be out here, but yeah, I mean, we’ve got a new defense, new guys. You’ve got to try to learn those guys, learn the defense while coming back from an injury, so trying to make sure my body responds the way I want it to.”

David Amerson will take his place with the first team defense across from starting cornerback Chris Culliver for as long as Hall is out. The Redskins are already very thin at the cornerback position.
