St. Louis Rams rookie wide receiver Bud Sasser didn't envision this would be his road to the NFL. Sasser earned first-team All-SEC honors his senior season at Missouri, but was not even invited to the NFL Combine and ended up being a sixth-round selection in the draft.

"The no combine invite was big," Sasser told ESPN. "There was a lot of stunning things going on. That was crazy to me but I was able to overcome it and just be able to do what I needed to do at my pro day. And I was able to help myself out with that."

Sasser knows it will be a battle to earn a roster spot, but is ready to do whatever is necessary to be on the regular season roster.

"I just have to come out here every day and work," Sasser said. "I believe in my abilities and my skillset and I know this coaching staff, Coach [Ray] Sherman especially, is going to get me right and help me improve each day. There’s a lot of key components to helping me improve my game every day."

Sasser did not get to participate in the Rams' rookie orientation because of an undisclosed physical ailment. Sasser is not letting that keep him down and is ready to surprise some people once he gets his chance on the field.

"It just seems that there’s some type of situation that goes on in every little process I go through so it just creates a bigger and bigger chip each time," Sasser said.
