Raiders' Reece: McFadden passed the torch to a worthy Murray
Marcel Reece won't lead block for Darren McFadden for the first time since they entered the league six years ago.
Reece will play in front of his Latavius Murray in 2015. And the longest-tenured positional player in Oakland thinks his "little nephew" is ready to take McFadden's place.
"There’s no drop off in chemistry," Reece told the team's official site. "Mac (McFadden) just passed the torch to someone worthy of it who was already one of us.”
That doesn't mean McFadden won't be missed in the locker room. Reece and Murray were closest with McFadden and were nearly inseparable on and off the field.
The Silver and Black moved on from No. 20. But Reece said McFadden imparted his work ethic in Murray -- and that'll serve the new starter well heading into 2015.
"Every time we were off the field, we were talking about football, we were watching film, we were having dinners, whatever it was," Reece said. "He (Murray) was with us, and that was important for this time now."
