ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) The Oakland Raiders have activated rookie safety Obi Melifonwu from the injured reserve list.

The Raiders waived cornerback Demetrius McCray with an injured designation on Saturday to make room for Melifonwu on the roster. Melifonwu is set to make his NFL debut on Sunday night in Miami.

The Raiders drafted Melifonwu in the second round this year. He has been sidelined since training camp with a lower leg injury.

Oakland is the only team in NFL history to fail to record an interception in the first eight games of the season.
