QB Teddy Bridgewater pumps brakes on Minnesota Vikings hype

Star running back Adrian Peterson has returned to the Minnesota Vikings, causing the team to gain some traction in talk about the NFL's contenders for the 2015 season. But second-year quarterback Teddy Bridgewater isn't blindly buying into the hype, according to Chris Tomasson of TwinCities.com.

Bridgewater is keeping a level head after enjoying some marginal success as a rookie. Although the Vikings missed the playoffs with a 7-9 record, Bridgewater showed some promise as the franchise's quarterback of the future by completing 64.4 percent of his pass attempts and orchestrating three fourth-quarter comebacks.

The bar will be set higher for the Vikings in Year 2, though, and Bridgewater isn't playing down the help Peterson can offer him in the offensive backfield.

"He’s probably one of the best running backs to ever play in the NFL," Bridgewater told TwinCities.com. "I'm pretty excited that he’s back and we just got to continue to get better."

Peterson has gained over 10,000 yards on the ground since 2007, but he was only able to play in one game last year. He was staging a holdout before this week, but the 30-year-old running back has since returned to the field for voluntary workouts.
