Private jets, Italian dinners and rookie QBs: NFL teams recruiting La'el Collins

The La'el Collins sweepstakes are heating up.

The former Louisiana State lineman is being aggressively pursued by multiple teams. Each club is going at it in their own way.

Following a Monday night dinner with Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan, the Miami Dolphins sent Collins' former teammates Jarvis Landry, Kelvin Sheppard and Anthony Johnson to Baton Rouge to visit him, National Football Post's Aaron Wilson reports. Dolphins center Mike Pouncey posted a picture of he and Landry in a private jet on his Instagram account:

Collins is also being recruited by Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie quarterback Jameis Winston, Yahoo! Sports' Rand Getlin reports. Winston contacted Collins several times in the last 24 hours attempting to sell the idea of them playing together, according to Getlin. The Buccaneers drafted former Penn State tackle Donovan Smith in the second round and Hobart guard Ali Marpet in the third round during last week's NFL Draft. The Buccaneers also brought in veteran guard Dan Connolly for a visit last month.

Collins' agent, Deryk Gilmore, denied Tuesday that his player is meeting with any NFL teams at this time.

Collins, who went undrafted after his name surfaced in connection with an investigation into the shooting death of his former girlfriend, met with Baton Rouge police regarding the incident and is not considered a suspect.

Since Collins went undrafted, he is free to sign with any team. All teams can make the same non-guaranteed $1.6 million deal over the next three years.
