Pressure released for Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb

Signing a four-year, $40 million contract extension has put Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb in a new frame of mind. His head finally clear of nagging negotiations, Cobb can now focus on taking his game to the next level.

"That pressure is released," Cobb told Packers senior writer Mike Spofford. "I don’t have to worry about those things. I can focus on continuing to work on my craft."

Cobb has no plans to coast on the terms of his new deal. The game-changing pass-catcher is still highly motivated to improve.

"I have the biggest expectations for myself," Cobb said, per the Packers website. "Nobody in this room, nobody in this building, none of you all, no fan can set expectations higher than my own."

Last season, Cobb was huge. He had 91 catches for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns. With new targets in the mix, the 2011 second-round selection knows how difficult it will be to replicate those statistics this season.

"Davante [Adams] coming along, that adds a target, and he’s going to get more targets," Cobb told the team website. "I look forward to this receiving corps. We’ve got a great offense, a lot of weapons. It’s going to be hard to top what I did last year."

Cobb's competition at receiver goes beyond Jordy Nelson and now includes promising youngsters in Adams, Jared Abbrederis, Jeff Janis and Ty Montgomery.
