Patriots release LB Dekoda Watson, 3 from practice squad

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) The New England Patriots released linebacker Dekoda Watson on Wednesday, a day after acquiring linebacker Jonathan Bostic from the Chicago Bears.

The Patriots also released offensive lineman Chris Barker, receiver Kenbrell Thompkins and defensive lineman Joe Vellano from the practice squad.

Watson played in the Patriots wins over Buffalo and Jacksonville and recorded one tackle on special teams. He has played in 72 games over five years for Tampa Bay, Jacksonville, Dallas and New England, starting seven and recording 120 tackles and three sacks. He has one interception and four fumble recoveries.
