SECONDARY
BAfter last week’s outing it was clear that the Panthers secondary may be a bit of a work in progress and this week showed that things should eventual be looking up for this group. While 242 yards and two scores from Gabbert isn’t a great stat line for a passing defense to allow, there were still positives to takeaway. Rookie cornerback James Bradberry notched his first career interception to officially end the game and overall had a much better outing and even graded out as the best CB in Week 2 according to Pro Football Focus for giving up a passer rating of zero. Fellow rookie Daryl Worley saw his fair share of defensive snaps as well and made some nice plays including a pass breakup on a third down play. The unit made a few gaffes in coverage on Vance McDonald’s 75-yard score and on Torrey Smith’s touchdown in the second quarter, but progress was shown and once the miscues are cleaned up this unit could wind up as a solid one in time.Next: SPECIAL TEAMS
