Panthers-Chargers to be blacked out in SoCal
The San Diego Chargers say their game against the Carolina Panthers will be blacked out Sunday because nearly 11,000 general tickets were unsold at Thursday's deadline.
It will be the third straight blackout and fourth this year for San Diego. Earlier games that were blacked out were against Atlanta, Baltimore and Cincinnati.
Several corporate sponsors stepped up to help save the Chargers the embarrassment of having an NFL Network game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 1 blacked out on local TV. Those sponsors guaranteed the purchase of roughly 10,000 tickets to lift the blackout.
The blackout streak will end for the season finale against Oakland on Dec. 30, as the Chargers say only scattered single general tickets are left for that game.
