Packers' Letroy Guion suspended three games
The NFL suspended Packers defensive tackle Letroy Guion without pay for the first three games of the regular season on Thursday, saying the eighth-year pro violated the league's policy on substance abuse.
The 28-year-old Guion was arrested near his home in Florida in early February on felony charges of drug and firearm possession. A traffic stop turned up three-quarters of a pound of marijuana, a handgun and a bag containing more than $190,000 in cash.
Signed by the Packers as a free agent last year after playing for the NFC North rival Minnesota Vikings, Guion started every game for the first time in his career. He had career highs of 62 tackles and 3 sacks.
Guion will be eligible to return to the Packers' active roster Sept. 29. He can play and practice in the preseason.
