Packers DE Datone Jones suspended for opener against Bears

Green Bay Packers defensive end Datone Jones will be suspended for the first game of the NFL season.

Jones, who is the third player to be handed down a suspension on Thursday, violated the NFL Policy and Program for substances of abuse.

Jones will be eligible to return to the active roster on Sept. 14 following the opener against the Chicago Bears.

Entering his third season, Jones will be eligible to participate in all offseason and preseason practices and games.

Jones was selected in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft from UCLA.
