The Oakland Raiders have signed an offensive tackle to their practice squad.

Per Precision Sports Management Group, the agency that represents OT Takoby Cofield, their client has signed with the Raiders’ practice squad. The team is yet to announce any transactions.

Cofield is listed at 6’4″, 304 lbs., and went undrafted in 2016 out of Duke. Dane Brugler of CBS Sports has a brief scouting report available. He spent most of the offseason with Washington.

With the right tackle position ailing due to injuries to the top three players at that spot — Menelik Watson, Austin Howard and Matt McCants — Oakland decided to make a minor move that at least provides some depth.

Although it’s just a practice squad spot, it could turn into something more if the injuries to any of the aforementioned players lingers on. Jack Del Rio, per usual, has been mum on the status of any his right tackles.

It’ll be interesting to see how the offensive line is shuffled if the team will again have to go without Watson, Howard and McCants. It’s likely the same setup will be used as the New Orleans game — Osemele, Feliciano, Hudson, Jackson, Penn — with Vadal Alexander serving as the backup right tackle.

Since the team has not officially made an announcement, there is not a corresponding move that is know. The Raiders have ten players on their practice squad and 52 players on their active roster. So it’s possible they could bump up one player from the practice squad to make room for Cofield.
