NFL odds: Cowboys out to continue win streak at Vikings on Thursday Night Football

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

The Vikings (6–5) knocked off the last NFC East opponent they hosted in primetime this season, taking down the Giants 24–10 in Week 4, and the team will try to replicate that success against the Cowboys (10–1) as small home underdogs at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com on Thursday Night Football.

The Cowboys bring an NFL-best 10-game winning streak into this matchup and barely failed to cover the spread in their 31–26 victory against the Washington Redskins as 5.5-point home favorites on Thanksgiving. That dropped Dallas to 9-1-1 against the spread—the team’s lone loss came in the season opener to the Giants 20–19 as a one-point home underdog.

Minnesota has won seven of the past nine meetings with the Cowboys straight up to go along with an 8–1 mark ATS on the NFL point spreads, which is encouraging considering the team’s recent slide. After getting swept by the Detroit Lions with a 16–13 road loss on Thanksgiving, the Vikings essentially fell two games back in the race for the NFC North title.

The Vikings have dropped five of their last six games both SU and ATS following a 5–0 start and could really use a win here in order to keep their playoff hopes alive in a competitive NFC.

The key to this game will be whether or not Minnesota can stop the Cowboys on the ground, particularly rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott, who leads the league in rushing with 1,199 yards.

Elliott has been held under 100 yards in four of the last five games, but he has still managed to top the 90-yard mark in all of them. In fact, the only time he has been held to less than 83 yards during his brief NFL career came versus New York in Week 1 when he totaled 51 yards on 20 carries.

That is still the lone loss for the Cowboys, and the Vikings are giving up 100.2 rushing yards per game, tied for 14th in the league.
