Newcomer Foster placed on PUP by Dolphins at start of camp

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) Four-time Pro Bowl running back Arian Foster has been played on the active-physically unable to perform list by the Miami Dolphins at the start of training camp.

Foster is coming back from Achilles tendon surgery last fall. He signed a $1.5 million, one-year deal this month with Miami, saying he was fully healthy.

Also placed on the PUP list before Friday's practice were cornerbacks Bobby McCain and Xavien Howard, running back Damien Williams and linebacker Zach Vigil. The injuries to McCain and Howard further deplete Miami at an already thin position.

When Foster and Williams return, they're expected to compete for backup duty behind second-year pro Jay Ajayi.
