Mike Shula on head coaching rumors: 'I'm locked in on this job'

With the Carolina Panthers sitting 9-0 and looking like the team to beat in the NFC currently, it's no surprise that offensive coordinator Mike Shula has had his name mixed in with some head coaching vacancy rumors.

Most recently, Shula's name was mixed in with the Miami Hurricanes vacancy. Fortunately for Panthers fans, as David Newton of ESPN reported, Shula shut down that conversation almost immediately.

"I'm locked in on this job," Shula told ESPN. "I've got blinders on, too. I want to beat the Redskins."

When the subject was pressed even more, Shula didn't even let it turn into a conversation.

"Here's what I would ask of our players," he said. "I don't care what is happening, you stay locked in right now. So if I'm going to ask that from them, I've got to do the same thing."

Pretty impressive, but obviously Shula is doing the right thing with this. The Panthers have a ton of football left to play, and could make a serious run this year if they can remain focused.
