OAKLAND, CA – OCTOBER 16: Marcus Peters

Second Pro Bowl Player returns to Chiefs in October

The Chiefs pass rush has been less than punishing tis far into 2016. That changed Wednesday with Justin Houston’s return to the Chiefs practice field. Houston may not be ready to play for a a week or more. It is very unlikely that he can suit up for the Saints this weekend, but he can still have an impact.

His presence, energy and athleticism can help his teammates while he works back into game readiness. In particular, Dee Ford needs Houston around him in both the film room and the practice field. Ford has been slow to progress in what was hoped to be a possible breakout year. He currently leads the team with only 3.5 sacks. With Houston’s presence we could see an uptick in Ford’s production.

New found ground game is key to beating Saints

Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints bring a high-power offense into Arrowhead this weekend. After shutting downtime Oakland Raiders, the Chiefs have another challenge for their young defense. Young and newly signed players will fill there defensive roles versus New Orleans. Chris jones and D.J. White are slotted for two of them.

The inside linebacker role will be a toss up between Sio Moore, Ramik Wilson and Sam Barrington. the competition for the starting role is one to watch leading up to gametime.
