Julius Thomas once again a non-factor for Jacksonville

When the Jaguars signed Julius Thomas to five-year, $46 million contract last March, the team envisioned the Pro Bowl tight end becoming one of quarterback Blake Bortles' top targets.

So far, it hasn't happened, with Sunday's 28-23 loss to the Jets the latest game Jacksonville has failed to receive much in the way of production from Thomas.

The five-year veteran caught just three pass for 14 yards against New York. 

“He’s obviously a great player,” Bortles said, per the team's official website. “He’s somebody we want to get the ball to. He’s good when he has the ball in his hands; he obviously creates mismatches. We’re continuing to try to figure things out on how to get him the ball.”

Thomas, who missed the first four games of the season recovering from hand surgery, has just 13 catches for 116 yards and a touchdown on the year.

The two-time Pro Bowler recorded back-to-back 12 touchdown seasons playing with the Denver Broncos in 2013 and 2014.
