Jon Beason: I feel when healthy, I am the best in the game

Jon Beason is focused on putting his injury-plagued 2014 season behind him in an effort to get back to the level he was playing at in 2013 after the Giants acquired him mid-season from the Carolina Panthers.
During his first run with the Giants in 2013, Beason took over as the signal caller on the defense and many believed that he was a major factor in the defense's mid-season turnaround. Despite last season's difficulties for Beason, he does not run short of confidence.
"I feel when healthy I am the best in the game, and that is my motto going into the 2015 campaign," Beason said on a conference call as the Giants began their voluntary offseason program Monday."It's no different. I'm going to be healthy every game and instead of talking about every game, my focus is the opener and to have practiced the whole week and go out there and play prepared as opposed to just playing [off your] will and your mental capacity based on how long you have been in the league and just being a veteran. I'm looking forward to having the mental part meet the physical preparation and going out there and being the best I can be."
Beason is hoping that his teammates take the same approach, putting 2014 behind them as they prepare for what should be a new endeavor.
"We have to start all over again," Beason said. "We have to completely reset."
In the conference call, Beason also spoke about new defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo and the potential to fill the leadership void left by Antrel Rolle's departure in free agency.
