Jets S Landry activated after passing physical

New York Jets safety LaRon Landry has been activated from the physically unable to perform list after passing his physical, and has been cleared to practice when the team opens training camp Friday.

Landry, signed as a free agent in March, was placed on the PUP list Monday after not practicing with the team during offseason workouts. He had been rehabbing an Achilles/heel injury that cut short his season last year with the Washington Redskins.

Landry spent a good chunk of the offseason rehabilitating the injury on his own, saying last month that he received both platelet-rich plasma therapy and stem-cell treatments.

The Jets are reporting to camp Thursday, and Landry's health was one of the main questions as the team begins to prepare for the season.
