Jets release former Pro Bowl wideout Brandon Marshall
The New York Jets, who continue to cut ties with their aging players, released veteran wideout Brandon Marshall on Friday.
Marshall thanked the organization and apologized to Jets fans for failing to win a championship.

Marshall spent the past two years with the Jets, catching a career-high 14 touchdowns in 2015. But his production dipped dramatically last season, as he finished with 788 receiving yards – a little more than half of his 2015 total – and only three TDs. He's never made the playoffs in his 11-year career.
The 32-year-old wideout is the latest 30-or-older former Pro Bowl player to be let go by the Jets, following Darrelle Revis, Nick Mangold, Ryan Clady and Nick Folk. Marshall, who was named to his sixth Pro Bowl in 2015, requested the release, according to New York Newsday, so he can find a better fit. A source told ESPN that the Jets did offer Marshall an extension.
Marshall should still draw interest in the open market. The move saves the Jets $7.5 million in cap space.
