FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) New York Jets coach Todd Bowles has hired University of Buffalo defensive line coach John Scott Jr. as the team's quality control-defense coach.

Scott, 39, was hired by Buffalo last month after spending the previous two seasons as Texas Tech's defensive line coach. Scott played defensive end at Western Carolina and spent two seasons with Greensboro of arenafootball2 and one year with Montreal of the CFL.

He has also had coaching stops at Georgia Southern, Missouri State, Western Carolina, Norfolk State and Louisiana-Lafayette.

The hiring Wednesday completes the coaching staff for Bowles, who was hired by New York last month after two seasons as Arizona's defensive coordinator.
