Jerry Jones says Cowboys won't shut down Dez Bryant

Published Dec. 15, 2015 3:12 p.m. ET

You really think a guy like Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is going to give up on a season?

Of course not. He has far too invested in his football team. So when he was asked if the Cowboys were just going to pack up Dez Bryant and call it a season, he giggled. He literally giggled.

Bryant, who missed five games with a broken foot, has been practically invisible. His 10 catches for 142 yards over the last four games is the worst four-game stretch he’s had since his rookie year. His quarterback, Matt Cassel, is having an incredibly difficult time connecting with Bryant, even if Bryant is open.

And it's not just Bryant who is struggling. The entire Cowboys offense is struggling to move the ball under Cassel. In the last three games, Dallas has averaged just 266 yards of offense per game.

The Cowboys play one more divisional game this season, and it's against the Washington Redskins. They may have every opportunity to play spoiler on the Redskins' playoff hopes as they battle in a tough divisional title race. So no way is Jones benching Bryant.
