Jarvis Landry, Odell Beckham make NFL history on Monday night
The New York Giants topped the Miami Dolphins on Monday night, knocking off the fish from Florida, 31-24. With that, the Dolphins are eliminated from playoff contention while the Giants moved into a tie for first in the AFC East. Aside from what the two teams did on the field, former LSU teammates Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr. had quite the impressive games, and made NFL history in doing so.
Landry finished with 11 catches for 99 yards, his 89th reception of the year. Beckham caught seven passes for a whopping 166 yards and two touchdowns -- his sixth straight 100-yard game. Through two seasons, Beckham now has 176 catches, while Landry has 173, himself.
Incredibly, they now rank No. 1 and 2 on the all-time list for receptions in a player's first two seasons, according to ProFootballTalk.
It was the first time Landry and Beckham took the field together in the NFL after spending three seasons together at LSU. They're still great friends, and it showed after the game when they swapped jerseys and shared a hug. It's only fitting that they make history in their first game facing each other as pros -- and they certainly put on a show with their stat-stuffing nights.
