James Carpenter will be secret to Jets' offensive success

Although it wasn't a signing that made huge headlines this offseason, the New York Jets signing of guard James Carpenter is an important one. Carpenter comes over after spending the first four years of his career playing for the Seattle Seahawks.

Last season, the Jets suffered from their poor guard play and are hoping that Carpenter can remedy the problems it incurred last season at guard. They are also hoping that acquiring another offensive lineman from Seattle for the second straight season will help instill a winning culture on a team that has not had a winning record for the last four seasons.

While Carpenter is slated to start at right guard, there are still questions that remain in regards to Carpenter's play. For instance, Carpenter has never played a full season so far during his career which has helped lead to inconsistent play over the course of his playing career.

If Carpenter can hold down the right guard spot ad stay healthy, the Jets will have four strong starters on the offensive line. Thus, it will help improve the passing game and allow whoever wins the quarterback battle, a chance to get the ball to all the options that are now on the Jets roster.
