Jaguars release 6, including G Will Rackley
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) The Jacksonville Jaguars have released six players, including starting guard Will Rackley.
A third-round draft pick from Lehigh in 2011, Rackley started 25 games over three seasons. He missed all of 2012 with an ankle injury.
''I really appreciate all the love and support!'' Rackley posted on his Twitter page. ''I've been mentally prepared for anything. Much success to come.''
Jacksonville also released running back Delone Carter, running back Shaun Chapas, receiver Jeremy Ebert, defensive tackle Drake Nevis and receiver Stephen Williams.
The Jaguars drafted nine players over the weekend, including two receivers and a running back, and agreed to terms with 17 undrafted rookies. With the additions, they needed to cut six players to get to the league-mandated, 90-man roster limit.
The undrafted rookies include Miami quarterback Stephen Morris, Miami receiver Allen Hurns, California defensive tackle DeAndre Coleman, LSU safety Craig Loston and Oregon State cornerback Rashaad Reynolds.
The others are: Northwestern place-kicker Jeff Budzien, Cumberland running back Terrance Cobb, Louisville receiver Damian Copeland, Rice long-snapper Trevor Gillette, Oregon defensive tackle Ricky Havili-Heimuli, Fresno State tight end Marcel Jensen, Missouri-Western State tight end Reggie Jordan, Clemson guard Tyler Shatley, Utah State tight end D.J. Tialavea, James Madison offensive tackle Josh Wells, Maryland linebacker Marcus Whitfield and Tennessee Tech punter Chad Zinchini.
