Jacquizz Rodgers Ready To Carry Load For Buccaneers

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

No Doug Martin. No Charles Sims. For Jacquizz Rodgers, it’s no problem. Rodgers is ready to help carry the Buccaneers to victory.

The San Francisco 49ers have the worst run defense in football. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a running back that was unemployed after week one. However, Jacquizz Rodgers has stepped in and done his best to help out this offense, and this football team.

He’s ready to go Sunday as he will once again be the primary ball carrier for the Bucs in a game the Buccaneers can not afford to lose. Not only will it set them back – again – but you can’t be considered a legitimate team or expect to make a run towards the postseason and lose games you really have no business losing. San Francisco is not a good team by any means and the Bucs will lean on the third team running back heavily yet again.

He’s ready and not surprised by the increase in his playing time. In fact, he prepares for it every week, no matter who is healthy or who is starting;

” For me, the approach is the same; go in there and just try to find a way to help my team win and also as a team, we are just trying to build off the win we had against Carolina and just trying to get things rolling and try to get these wins to make them come in bunches.

[The] NFL is a next-man-up mentality. My first game [with Tampa Bay], I actually ended up getting thrown in on offense and it was crazy from there. The good thing, I am familiar with this offense, so it helped make my transition a lot easier.”

The Buccaneers and the fans are excited to get Doug Martin back, whenever that may be, but until then, it’s nice to have a guy ready to do whatever it takes to win.
