Hue Jackson says the Browns won’t trade the No. 1 pick

Despite trading for Brock Osweiler earlier this month, questions remain regarding the Cleveland Browns’ situation at quarterback. With less than a month to the NFL Draft, teams might try to pry the No. 1 pick from Cleveland, but head coach Hue Jackson made it quite clear that the franchise has no interest in trading that selection.

"No," Jackson said Tuesday at the NFL’s annual meetings, via ESPN. "I can tell you no on that one."

Though the Browns’ top pick appears to be off the table, the team has this year’s No. 12 pick that could also draw some interest. Cleveland has a stockpile of picks the next two years, owning 17 selections in 2017 and 2018.

Patriots backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has become the subject of trade rumors, but New England insists it has no interest in dealing the 25-year-old, especially with Tom Brady turning 40 before the start of the season.

Jackson was asked about the Browns’ potential interest in free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick, but he didn’t go into specifics.

"We haven't really discussed Colin," Jackson said. "There's other players at this point that we've really had a lot of conversation about to see if we can put on our team. Not saying that it won't come up later on. I think you have to exhaust everything you're doing. But at this point he hasn't come up that much."
