His former coach says Isaiah Pead lost part of leg in car crash

Former Rams and Dolphins running back Isaiah Pead’s injuries following a car crash have ended his football career.

Cincinnati head coach Tommy Tuberville spoke about Pead, his former player, on his radio show Wednesday night, and said the 26-year-old lost part of his left leg in the accident. Pead was driving in Columbus, Ohio with former Cincinnati defensive back Wesley Richardson early Saturday morning when their car veered off the highway.

Richardson has since been released from the hospital, but Pead was ejected from his seat and sustained serious injuries and is still recovering.

According to the crash report, drugs and alcohol were not factors in the accident, but the car was traveling over 90 miles per hour when it spun out of control.

Rams coach Jeff Fisher told reporters Sunday that Pead’s mother had informed him her son’s career was over.

Pead played three games for the Dolphins this season after playing for the Rams from 2012–2015. He was the Rams’ second-round selection out of Cincinnati in 2012. He had recently worked out for the Chiefs.
