Green Bay will 'overwhelm' opposition on special teams, says Packers kicker

Kickers aren't known for talking an exceptionally big game due to their relatively small roles, but Green Bay Packers kicker Mason Crosby has supreme confidence. Crosby kept things in a special-teams perspective while speaking with ESPN's Rob Demovsky, saying the Packers will "overwhelm" their opponents in the third phase of the game.

"Let's be honest: There's only so many things you can do on special teams," Crosby told ESPN. "I think coach [Ron] Zook is doing a good job trying to make that clear, saying we're going to simplify this. We're going to play fast. We're going to play very physical, and we're going to overwhelm teams with those things. He's going to demand it out of guys. You can tell whenever he picks people out and he'll make sure that he gets the most out of them. I saw that in him as the assistant last year."

Zook, a former assistant, replaced fired special teams coordinator Shawn Slocum this offseason. Crosby believes the slightly new direction will be a success because the team is loaded with fresh athletes, according to ESPN.

"We're going to have a lot of young guys," Crosby said. "I think that's going to be the biggest difference."

Crosby has kicking covered with 212 made field goals through eight seasons with the Packers. As for returning, gunning and every other aspect of special teams, Crosby will count on his younger teammates to get the job done.
