Glazer: Holmgren set to meet with Eagles GM Tuesday
While Browns fans are patiently waiting to learn the direction Mike
Holmgren will decide to go for their head coach for 2010, the
team's new football czar is also taking steps to line up
prospective general manager candidates.
Philadelphia Eagles general manager Tom Heckert is slated to
be in Cleveland Tuesday night to meet with Holmgren regarding the
vacant GM position, FOXSports.com has learned.
Heckert was also coveted for the same post by the Browns
years ago before they hired Phil Savage, but at the time Heckert
elected to stay in Philadelphia. Savage lasted in Cleveland until
the end of the 2008 season, then was replaced by first-year GM
George Kokinis — was was fired in early November.
Other candidates for the position are rumored to be Packers
Director of Football Operations John Schneider, former
Saints/Dolphins GM Randy Mueller and Titans Director of Pro
Scouting Lake Dawson among others.
