Giants' Shane Vereen disappears in Week 6 loss

Published Oct. 20, 2015 1:37 p.m. ET

Just one week after totaling 110 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown, New York Giants running back Shane Vereen was nowhere to be found in the team's 27-7 Week 6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Despite falling behind in the second half, the Giants did not make Vereen a bigger part of their game plan. He finished with just 28 of 70 offensive snaps. The Giants' decision to not get Vereen more involved is a curious one -- the Eagles were without their top three inside linebackers.

Vereen saw just four targets in the passing game, and he caught one pass for six yards. In the running game, Vereen didn't gain a single yard rushing on four carries.

In the Giants' Week 7 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, the Giants could look to get Vereen more involved. He can serve as an excellent outlet in the passing game against a talented pass rush.
